Kitchen Love – I Want This Look

If you haven’t stumbled upon Houzz yet, well….you can thank me later.  Because I’m about to let you in on a dirty little secret – a necessary addiction that ranks right up there with Pinterest.

Houzz, a popular interior design and decor website, displays fabulous photos/ideas all relating to the home. Whether it be interiors, exteriors or stunning rooms meticulously arranged and designed by industry professionals, Houzz is definitely your home away from home.

Though many may view the vast majority of Houzz photos as unattainable or beyond their budgets, Houzz has given me, your everyday typical homeowner, the inspiration to ‘get this look’ for myself.  And I’d love to share just how I do it with you.

Take this beautiful kitchen for example…

I love how this bold, red and parchment damask fabric adds a meaningful pop of color to the kitchen. The shade becomes the focal point in the clean, simple look of the kitchen, adding interest without too much distraction.  And believe it or not, finding a way to ‘get this look’ from Houzz in your own home can be a lot easier than you think.

In our Etsy shop, Drawn Company carries the most current fabrics from Lacefielddesigns.com which allow you to replicate this same look, or get pretty darn close anyway.  First, with the exact same color scheme and a slightly different design you have Lacefield’s Casablanca Geranium fabric.  Ikats are all the rage right now and this would make a beautiful stand alone roman for all your friends to rave about.

Now if you’re feeling a little saucy and want an edgier look, this next modern fabric displays subtle hints of pink.  This Lacefield red is called Marrakesh Firefly and it is practically a second cousin to Houzz’s designer fabric.Marrakesh Firefly

The Anya Geranium provides the strongest color statement with a teardrop design featuring deeper reds tones and hints of a earthly brown.anya2

Good taste and design don’t always have to be expensive or unattainable. You can ‘get this look’ with a quality, custom roman shade made by our shop. A window treatment that boasts style, flair and trendy design all on a moderate budget. And to finish it off, buy a bunch of fresh fruit during your weekly trip to the local market and don’t forget to pick up a bamboo plant on the way home.
